Committee Meetings: Getting stuff done!

YLNI the Vote

t's back!  Last year, YLNI made a splash during the city elections with the now-famous YLNI the VOTE. This year it's going to be bigger and better, but only with your help.

We need to get started very soon, so the first YLNI the VOTE meeting will be held 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, location to be determined.

YLNIers of all political stripes are welcome to participate. This is a non-partisan event where voices from across the political spectrum can be involved including those who have been volunteering on campaigns since before they could vote and those who have been recently inspired.

Planning to attend or need more information? Contact Rachel Blakeman at rachel@ylni.org.

Hot Spot planning meeting

After taking a short summer break, the Hot Spot Task Force will be meeting to get back to planning Hot Spots for this fall.

Come join us on Thursday, July 24th at 5:30 at Mad Anthony Brewing Company on Taylor & Broadway.  Mark the date on your calendar and come ready with new, fresh ideas for our Hot Spots!  We want your ideas, combined with the Social Committee Survey results, to make this networking event even better than before.  See you there.

Any questions?  Please contact social@ylni.org.
soon.

Proud Mary Music Fest

The planning committee will be meeting Thursday, July 10th at 5:45 pm at 816 S. Calhoun Street (Pint & Slice, upstairs).

This meeting will be organizational in nature.  We will be creating a task list and (hopefully) assigning people to each task.

If you are interested in helping plan this Spring 2009 event but are unable to attend this meeting, please let heathers@ylni.org know.

Barr Street Market 2008

Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI) in partnership with the History Center is pleased to offer another summer of farmer's market products with extended dates and more choices!

The market begins July 12 and runs every Saturday through September, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the corner of Wayne and Barr streets.  Free parking will be available in the History Center parking lot along Berry Street.  Bikers are encouraged to park at a corral in the market.

With the return of requested vendors, such as Country Garden and Farm, Bakers Acres, Hardy's Farm Market, Graber's, Maples Acres, Canal Junction Farmstead Cheese, Susan Lobert, Hilger's, and VanDolah, a variety of farm products will be available in addition to newcomers to the market.  These farm vendors will offer a range of fresh produce, including fruits and vegetables, cheeses, baked goods, maple syrups, honey, apple and pear butters, spices/herbs and apple cider.  Breads and baked goods will be offered by Celebrations, Espresso Gallery and the North Anthony Health Food Shoppe.

To complete the picture of a farmer's market, other non-food vendors will be represented at the market that will include products such as jewelry, soaps and lotions, sewn handbags and children's clothing and pottery.

Accompanying each Saturday morning will be acoustic entertainment as well as a hands-on activity table for children each week, sponsored by the Allen County Public Library Children's Services and WMEE.  The full schedule of children's activities and entertainment can be found at ylni.org.

The following sponsors that will make the 2008 YLNI Barr Street Market a reality are:
Carson Boxberger, Swiss Re, Gouloff-Jordan Surveying and Design, Chase, Nipsco, The History Center, Midwest Pipe & Steel, DataPrint Initiatives, Allen County Public Library and WMEE.

Here’s what some of the past YLNI Leadership Institute graduates have to say:

YLNI LI Class 2007 - Kanning.jpg

"The 2007 YLNI Leadership Institute was great!  I met fantastic, motivated and dynamic folks involved in a wide variety of community positions and activities, both participants and presenters." -- Jen Nash
“ I really enjoyed the Leadership Institute because they tied leadership back to building a community. We often strive to be great leaders in the workplace, but the missing piece is how we make the world a better place, and YLNI Leadership Institute found a way to show how to accomplish both simultaneously.”  – Taga Dumerauf
“YLNI's Leadership Institute was fantastic, both personally and professionally. The leadership and communication styles I learned have been so helpful at work and elsewhere; the sessions made me sit down and set goals - no more putting it off! The session facilitators are VERY good - I met a great mentor from one of them, and I encourage everyone to consider making the commitment to the institute.”
                      – Amy Mireles

“The YLNI Leadership Institute has not only helped me succeed in my new career by learning about different communication and management styles, but has also helped me meet new people and make new friends along the way.”
                      – Tom Delicati

“The Leadership Institute provided a venue to meet other young members of the business community, and provided some useful skills in being young and in leadership that you don't learn in school.”
                      – Lauren Morton

"Leadership Institute offered an opportunity to expand my horizons, both personally and professionally.  Not only have I been able to apply new concepts to my business, but I have also experienced more enjoyable personal relationships.  Both have developed as a direct result of the ideas that I learned in Leadership Institute."
                      – Aaron Moore
