YLNI's mission is to attract, develop and retain emerging leaders through community, professional and social engagement. We have a growing 1000+ person network, host social and cultural events throughout the year like the YLNI Farmers Market, and organize immersive community involvement that makes a real difference.

Board members are asked to serve two-year terms and cannot serve more than six years. New board members are selected from dues paying members and active YLNI volunteers.

 Our goal is to match applicants with the best position available for their interests and skillset. While not all board positions may be open, we encourage applicants to apply for any that interest them. 

Board Roles & Responsibilities 

President

The YLNI President’s role is to supervise and control the affairs of the organization and the activities of the officers.

Vice President

The responsibilities of the Vice President are to assist the President as well as provide advice, counsel and support the Board of Directors.

Secretary

The responsibilities of the Secretary include providing notice of meetings, distributing documents for the monthly board meeting, taking minutes at the board meetings, taking minutes at the Executive Committee meetings and overseeing the archiving and maintenance of YLNI documents.

Treasurer

The responsibilities of the Treasurer include having charge and custody of, and being responsible for all funds and securities of the organization.

Director at Large of Executive Committee

The Director at Large of the Executive Committee is responsible for assisting the rest of the EC, which includes the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer, while also focusing on the strategic direction of the organization.

VP of Leadership Development

The VP of Leadership Development is responsible for overseeing the committees that fall under Leadership Development which include Leadership Institute, High School Leadership Institute, View From The Top and Power Lunches. This position acts as the liaison between these committees and the Board of Directors.

VP of Fund Development

The VP of Fund Development oversees the raising of funds and tracks donations that are in support of the organization’s programs and events. This individual also works with our grant writer and tracks the grants that we apply for and receive.

VP of Communications

The responsibilities of the VP of Communications include overseeing the internal and external efforts to market the organization to current and potential members and the general public via multiple media channels.

VP of Membership

The VP of Membership is responsible for maintaining the organization’s membership list as well as driving the efforts to attract and retain members.

VP of Community Impact

The VP of Community Impact is responsible for overseeing the committees that fall under Community Impact which include YLNI Farmer’s Market, YLNI the VOTE and Community Engagement and Advocacy (CEA). This position acts as the liaison between these committees and the Board of Directors.

VP of Social

The VP of Social is responsible for overseeing the committees that fall under Social which include Hot Spots and the Living Fort Wayne Concert Series. While acting as the liaison between these committees and the Board of Directors, this individual also helps with other social events put on by the organization.

Director at Large of Leadership Development

The DaL of Leadership Development assists the VP of Leadership Development. This individual provides support and guidance for the committees that fall under Leadership Development which include Leadership Institute, High School Leadership Institute, View From The Top and Power Lunches.

Director at Large of Fund Development

The DaL of Fund Development assists the VP of Fund Development with the raising of funds and tracking sponsorships.

Director at Large of Communications

The DaL of Communications assists the VP of Communications and focuses on the external marketing of the organization.

Director at Large of Community Impact

The DaL of Community Impact assists the VP of Community Impact. This individual provides support and guidance for the committees that fall under Community Impact which include YLNI Farmer’s Market, YLNI the VOTE and Community Engagement and Advocacy (CEA).

Director at Large of Technology

The DaL of Technology is responsible for providing technical support to the Board of Directors and program committees. This individual uses digital resources and technology to facilitate communication and expedite processes for the organization.
