Upon entering the ‘Fly, visitors are greeted by tables and seating near the window for more traditional dining. Winding its way around and separating the two sides of the business is a large service counter where orders are taken with a smile, money is tendered, and deliciousness is prepared. The service can’t be beat. The baristas get to know regular faces, giving the coffee house a feeling akin to Cheers.
Firefly’s beverage menu is comparable to other coffee chains: coffees, teas, smoothies, and other thirst quenchers. They offer several selections of sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups, and baked goods. Bonus: everything but the soup and baked goods is made to order.
As patrons stand in line to order/receive their tasty treats, they can peruse the many handcrafted, one-of-a-kind creations for sale by local artists. These items frequently include jewelry, knit/crochet pieces, magnets, soaps, pottery, and notecards. These artistic trinkets can be purchased at the main counter with the usual forms of payment. Additionally, pretty much every piece of wall art is for sale, with small cards tucked into the frames with the prices written on them.
The inside of the Firefly is a work of art itself. I never get tired of the atmosphere, and I have yet to see anything else quite like it. The back seating area is completely surrounded by ceiling-to-floor illustrations. Lounge on a couch in the countryside at twilight year-round. Enjoy a friend's company beneath the soft glow of white Christmas lights strung around a pergola. Whatever ambiance you choose, relaxation is the word.
