Rena Shown

Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI) extends our heartfelt thanks to Rena Shown for eight years of incredible service and leadership. Since 2018, Rena has been deeply involved in, Get On Board, helping grow the program into one of YLNI’s most impactful mission advancement initiatives.

As she steps down to pursue other community engagement opportunities, we celebrate the legacy she leaves behind and the countless leaders and nonprofits she has helped strengthen along the way.

Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana’s Get On Board program exists to train, connect, and support local nonprofits and emerging leaders. Through nonprofit board training, leadership development programming, and governance networking opportunities like the Governance Gathering Series, Get On Board builds bridges between passionate professionals and organizations that need thoughtful, prepared leadership.

Under Rena’s guidance, the program expanded its reach and deepened its impact. Recruiting nonprofits to connect with emerging leaders, providing valuable governance training across our city, and championing the importance of strong, strategic board service throughout Northeast Indiana.

When reflecting on her time with YLNI, Rena shared:

“Serving as Chair of the Get on Board committee has been one of the most meaningful leadership experiences of my career. Leading this work has reinforced my belief that strong boards change communities. By equipping aspiring board members with the knowledge, networks, and confidence to serve well, we’ve built a pipeline of thoughtful, prepared leaders who are strengthening organizations and making a lasting impact across our community.”

Her words capture exactly what Get On Board stands for, and what her leadership has made possible.

Thank You, Rena!

We are excited to see how you continue to impact our community in the years ahead.
