Pembroke Bakery & Cafe - Restaurant Series #1

By

I don't know about y'all but after 25 years, I needed a little spice and newness to my diet. I have been to the same restaurants over and over in Fort Wayne since I was a little girl. Granted, they are good, but I needed some variety. So I decided to change that. I ventured out! I wanted to try new foods and explore what other cuisines my city had to offer. I was happily surprised to find a lot of restaurants and places I have never been to. Places where each meal I tried was delicious! And now, through Living Fort Wayne, I want to share that exploration with you!

My goal with this series is to introduce you and myself (continuing to look for new places) to a variety of foods and drinks, all from restaurants/cafes that are locally owned. Places that add an interesting piece to Fort Wayne's awesome and vibrant city-puzzle. Time to venture out to and embrace all your taste buds! I'll hold your hand, I promise.

A great place to start is Pembroke Bakery & Cafe.

Hint: I started here.

Pembroke Bakery & Cafe is one of my favorite downtown spots. Located inside the Auer Center for Arts and Culture, this place captivates what a hip urban cafe should be.

I always have a hard time picking what to eat here.

Some of my favorites are the Roman pizza and New Mexican black bean and corn burger.

The selections change daily and include vegan, gluten free options and a Kosher-approved menu.

Health nuts and meat lovers alike will enjoy this place. I am not a nutritionist but if it is green, it's healthy...and there's lots of green here!

Not only is it a restaurant, Pembroke also offers catering options, cooking classes and an informational blog.
